In what was characterized as an overzealous pursuit of President Trump’s blanket rejection of birthright citizenship, ICE officials arrested three suspects, anonymously identified as T1, T2, and T3, at their respective homes in coordinated 4 a.m. raids this morning. Two additional suspects remained at large.
Lawyers for the Trump family scrambled to courts in their respective districts to contest the arrests, raising suspicion that the President’s five children might be involved. However, the ICE legal team was prepared with Discovery filings showing each was born on U.S. soil to immigrant mothers who were not legitimate American citizens.
Judge Judy Calmath of Washington D.C.’s 12th District Court heard arguments stating that the father was an American citizen born in New York City, thereby justifying the children’s residence in-country. The judge acknowledged that recent Executive Orders questioning birthright citizenship had not been clearly delineated; she ordered the three remain in custody until such clarification arose.
“There is a pattern of deceit in the visas and citizenship paperwork for all three of the father’s wives. Furthermore, he is a convicted felon himself. It would seem that the spirit of the Executive Order for seizure and deportation was intended exactly for this situation: immigrant mothers, criminal fathers, and long histories of illegal activities, not to mention financial mismanagement. I’m not setting them free. Furthermore, they are flight risks due to their personal wealth; so no bail.”
Calls to the White House went unanswered. However, unnamed officials, speaking anonymously due to career concerns, all stated that the president had not been informed of the arrests. One official explained, “No one wants to be the first to tell him.”
