In a dimly lit room on K Street, Washington D.C., a small cluster of well suited men wandered a room, all smiles. “Finally! Finally we get approval of what we all knew: politics is, by it's very nature and definition, partisan! Another Johnny Walker!” says one overweight fellow. “Wait. Aren’t we're supposed to be working on a bipartisan platform, together, to serve ALL our constituents?” said a rotund man with a bright Christmas tie. His subsequent laughter echoed off the walls. “Hogwash!” exclaimed another. "We're at war with the Democratic lefties. We have blacks, hispanics, minorities from all over the world. We could be out voted, our form of Capitalism weakened. Let’s hear it for the one minority that matters: the white super rich, guarding our inheritance from the founding fathers." "And the Supreme Court just said they're good with that!" chimed in an enthusiastic gent. "Be as blatantly partisan as you want! All’s fair in love and politics." With a sigh of relief, he added, "So nice to hear.” “Hey Shorty, good to see you. What a great day it is! All those years of working the state governments and gerrymandering the federal elections finally paid off, big time! We have more than half the state legislatures, the House, the Senate, the Executive. And with Trump's stacking of the federal and Supreme courts, we're pretty much invincible now. We’ve hit the Trifecta!” "Yep," agreed a friend on his right. "An imbalance of power can be a beautiful thing! Now we just have to govern." Silence fell for a moment, until he added, "After we stick it to the Dems one more time." The tension broke in guffaws. “I’ll drink to that!” said an older gent, scotch in hand. “We’re not done yet either. Gerrymandering is right out in the open now! No more of this federal court interference in our maps. Draw 'em the way we like ‘em. The sound of clinking glasses echoed the holiday cheer in their voices. “God I love this country!”
